Meet the staff members at Arise
Rev. Drew Ensz
Drew is the ministry director of Arise. Drew grew up around the Baltimore area. He graduated from Virginia Tech in 2006 with a major in Sociology and a minor in Religious Studies. He attended Eastern Mennonite Seminary and graduated in 2014. He has worked as a youth director for eight years in northern Virginia. While there he met his lovely wife, Catie. They have two sons, Josiah and Benjamin. After becoming a Provisional Elder in the United Methodist Church, Drew became the Associate Pastor in Smithfield, Virginia. Drew enjoys reading, playing with his sons, video games, and generally being goofy. He enjoys hanging out with people, forming authentic, Christ-centered relationships.
Emilee Snyder is a recent graduate of Princeton Theological Seminary in Princeton, NJ where she has spent the last three years studying spirituality, young adult Christian formation, and creative models of ministry. Originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, Emilee studied theological and biblical studies in undergrad at Lee University in Tennessee before moving to New Jersey. She has enjoyed finding “home” in different areas across the US over the past few years, and is so excited for her upcoming journey, and new home, at George Mason. Emilee is an avid lover of coffee shops, college basketball, and the city life. She’s spunky, energetic, and excited about finding creative ways and spaces to embody Christ. College ministry has long been a passion of Emilee’s, ever since her own formative ministry experiences as a college student at Lee, and she’s more than excited for this new adventure with Arise.
Kyle graduated from Kent State University with a degree in Political Science. Upon graduation, he decided to bring his talents to Nova and move from his home state of Ohio. He loves spending time with his kittens and playing video games (when he has time). He plays guitar and enjoys recording music for fun on the side. His all time favorite quote is "I get knocked down, but I get up again, you're never gonna keep me down!" Want to know more? Feel free to engage and ask him any questions!
Michelle has always felt a calling to be a missionary but found herself serving God in other ways. She loves children but feels she especially relates to teens and young adults. She has three children of her own. She has assisted with Vacation Bible School, Co-chaptered a Fellowship of Christian Athletes group, served as Sunday School Teacher and Substitute Teacher for PWC schools and helped with Youth Ministry. Michelle attended Northern VA Community College and Howard County College MD. She completed her undergraduate studies in liberal arts with an emphasis on business law. She jokingly states that she does not know what she wants to be when she grows up as she has certifications in medical assistance, early childhood education, paralegal studies and real estate. She has been a licensed Realtor and office administrator for the last 10 years. In her spare time she loves to read anything and everything and hopes to one day write a novel. She has written a few unpublished short stories for her children.
